Abernethy Vintage

This vintage Southeast Portland home remained largely in its original state when we began the project, a quality the homeowners cherished. After living here for many years, they were ready to expand and reimagine their home to better suit their evolving needs. The renovation created a larger, brighter, modernized kitchen with an island, a dedicated drop-zone desk, a new door connecting to the backyard and walk-in pantry, along with a main-floor powder bath. Additional improvements included a new side entry with a dedicated mudroom and a new primary bedroom suite on the upper level.

Using details and proportions from the original house, we designed the addition to feel as seamless as possible, preserving the vintage character and charm the homeowners loved while incorporating modern amenities that support their lifestyle.

Proud winner of the 2026 BlueStar Kitchen Design Contest! Recognized for thoughtful kitchen design that brings beauty, character, and everyday function together.

“You guys really were the best in walking us through what we wanted. Extra special thanks to Erin for helping with paint when we just needed it. We really appreciate you helping us through the pandemic and all the stress. But truly we have so much fondness for you both and your amazing talent! We will be forever grateful for your help in giving our humble home exactly what it needed to move onto the future while respecting her! And loving every minute. Thank you!”
