The owners have a 90's home that has a lot of architectural features on the front facade. We are looking at ways of reducing the amount of roof forms and the number of window types to quiet down the facade and minimize the number of materials. The goal is to make their house have a more NW regional aesthetic.
We are really looking forward to working with this loving, extended family in Milwaukie. With a 3rd child on the way and grandma living with this young family, an ADU is going to help take some of the pressure off this 2000 sqft house.
Currently, the house is a split-level ranch style house on a flag lot. By adding the attached accessory dwelling unit, it presents opportunities for reaching out into the landscape to create a courtyard and multi-level gardens that both spaces will engage in. Most importantly of all, it defines space for grandma that gives her a place all her own but still close enough to share in all the family activities - when she wants to. Gusto is happy to be involved with this project.
A very small bungalow gets some much needed attention. This house had the smallest and most dysfunctional kitchen that we had ever seen. We are happy to be involved in opening things up to fix the flow, convert the basement to living space and give the house some street appeal on the exterior. Now under construction, look for updates in the blog.
These old historic home owners decided to depart from the text and have Gusto design a basement improvement that has a more contemporary style with a tendency towards the eclectic. It's sure to be an exciting space. Especially if you like board games...
This project will upgrade a '90s garage and a wrap-around deck that were poor facsimiles of the original details. The design goals are to make the details blend with the historic detailing of the original house.
An incredible property that deserves a long over due remodel.
